Advantages
The PST is a fully integrated system, i.e. all processing (image processing/tracking/training/etc) happens inside the PST. This frees up your own system so you can concentrate on important things such as graphics and interaction, while minimizing latency.

The PST comes with powerful and intuitive software at no additional costs.
The PST comes fully calibrated, you just mount it somewhere in your setup and you are good to go. As such, the PST is very easy to maintain, move, or setup in another environment.
The PST has great flexibility in the type of rigid bodies it can track. You can used spherical markers as well as flat markers which can be put on any type of object. For instance, a toy car of coffee cup could be equipped with 30 or 40 flat markers. This enables you to manipulate such objects as you would normally, unhampered by sticks with spherical markers. Also you can use both active and passive markers.
The PST features a very intuitive and quick training procedure to teach the system to recognize new rigid bodies and can handle more complex bodies.
Fast accurate tracking
The PST uses uses tangible, wireless interaction devices for 3D interaction. These devices are tracked using a sophisticated optical tracking system. The position and orientation (pose) of the devices are reconstructed 60 times per second, and with sub-millimeter accuracy.
Connectable units - building a vast tracked area
Each unit works as a complete 6DOF trackers. With multiple units you can expand the tracking area. A simple procedure allows you to allign the tracked area from each tracker with several others. (overlapping cones procedure)
Doing so you are able to create indoor large tracked arenas.
Normal lighting conditions
The optical tracking is based on infrared lighting, reducing interference of visible light sources from the environment. This allows the PST to be used under normal office working conditions, without requiring controlled lighting.
Dynamic lighting
The dynamic lighting of the PST allows you have to PST units facing eachother. Furthermore the dynamic lighting allows you to define the illumination level, optimizing the illumination of an area and taking full advantage of both near field and further away tracking.
Mark train and interact ... with almost anything
Transform arbitrary objects like cubes, pens, helmets, bodyparts, glasses and tennis rackets into tracked objects. Both active and passive markers can be used. One marker gives you 3 degrees of freedom, while 4+ markers gives you 6 Degrees of freedom. Furthermore you can track at least 15 different devices using the Personal space tracker. Training a new device is done in seconds.
Tracking software
The PST comes with an easy to use tracker application. This application is used for new device training, aligning multiple PST units, managing devices, origin definition and linking application.
A simple SDK allows you to bypass the standard interfaces and import the tracking data direct in your application.
The Tracker unit itself is taking care of the actual tracking calculations. Using the PST therefore has minimal impact on the computing power of the system on which you run your applications.
You can import the tracking data using the standard interface VRPN or using our SDK that allows you to import the tracking data direct in your application.
